Samsung Captivate Specs

Samsung Captivate is a variant of the popular Samsung Galaxy S series of phones. The technical specifications are pretty much similar to the other version of the Galaxy S series of phones, like the Samsung Vibrant. The Captivate is a quadband phone. So supports the worldwide GSM frequencies. The phone also supports HSDPA 850/1900/2100. The device measures 122.4×64.2×9.9mm and weighs around 118g. So quiet a heavy phone.

It sports a 4.0″ Super AMOLED capacitive multi touch screen display with 480×800 pixel resolution and can display 16M colors. So that’s really a super display. To compliment the screen, Samsung has its TouchWiz 3.0 installed on the phone. The accelerometer is responsible for the auto orientation of the screen and the proximity sensor turns off the display automatically.

The phone has a 3.5mm audio output jack for music buffs and the 16GB internal memory with 512MB RAM should pretty much serve your thirst. But the phone has a microSD card slot too, which supports upto 32GB. When it comes to connectivity, the phone features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth V3.0 with A2DP and a microUSB V2.0.

The device has a 5MP camera with autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection features and can record video at 720p resolution, so that is HD video recording. A VGA camera is provided at the front of the device for video calling purposes.

The device runs on the Android 2.1, or Eclair version of the Android OS and houses a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. Full HTML browsing and stereo FM with RDS remain the other details of the device. A standard Li-ion 1500 mAh battery is provided which is said to give a stand by battery backup of up to 750 h and a talk time of up to 6 h 30 min.
